Carey School of Basketball
Carey School of Basketball is a non-profit, community based organization that serves a valuable outlet for at-risk youth in the Denver Metro Area.
We offer the following services:
Basketball Training & Social + Emotional Intelligence:
Basketball skill training that teaches kids the fundamentals of basketball, plus educates kids on the importance of Social + Emotional Intelligence
CSB Basketball Camps:
As we enter another year of the Carey School of Basketball Camps, we aim to serve 200 campers each weekend. Each CSB Camper will be provided with T-shirts, water, and all the equipment needed to learn and play basketball.

Youth Basketball Team:
DNA is our youth basketball team for middle school kids. Kids practice weekly and play in local
leagues and travel out of state for play.

All coordinators/teachers/coaches have 15 plus years of experience. President Rudy Carey has been huge staple in the Denver community for decades. Rudy possesses the most wins by a coach in the history of Boys Basketball, and also has been teaching for Denver Public School for 30 plus years. Aside from winning 10 state championships and being a legendary coach, he has also been a father figure and mentor to many at risk youth in Denver. He’s also helped thousands get college scholarships and go on to become lawyers, doctors, teachers, police officers, coaches & more!
As a family, The Carey’s have decided to help at-risk youth by teaching basic basketball philosophies like teamwork, dedication, hard work, perseverance that can also be applied to life. Our mission is to provide an in-depth educational approach to basketball, to not only create fundamentally sound basketball players, but productive members of society.

Our Team
Head Coach // Denver East
Rudy Carey
Rudy is a legendary Colorado basketball coach. Coach Carey has coached basketball for the past 40 plus years. He has received numerous awards during his coaching career, including 10 state championships, 24 city championships, and 6 coach of the year honors. This season he coached Denver East to their 12th state championship. He’s had the opportunity to coach the USA 18 & under team as well as the McDonald’s High School All-American team. With 897 wins, he has an 80% win percentage. He is Colorado’s winningest basketball coach.
Trainer
David Carey
The camp is directed by David Carey. Coach David brings over 30 years of basketball experience from playing to coaching to personal training to directing camps. As a player, Coach David was all-state 2 years in high school and 1st team all-conference junior and senior year of college. He started his coaching career as a grad assistant for Regis University and later became DPS coach of the year at Montbello High School.
